In an era where digital connectivity is shaping our lives more than ever, we understood that not everyone was able to reap its benefits. People were being left unheard and unseen. This realization set the stage for the birth of Project EDI during an Ideator session, hosted by Digital Innovators.
Our journey began with the goal of developing a communication solution that embraces diversity. With an evolving idea, we introduced our first initiative, an AI-powered system featuring an avatar named EDI. EDI uses artificial intelligence and body tracking technology to bridge the communication gap and create an inclusive platform for everyone. Project EDI is not just about implementing cutting-edge technology; it's about sparking a social movement aimed at creating an environment where everyone is acknowledged and understood. Today, we stand committed to pushing the limits, leveraging the power of technology to break barriers and champion diversity. Behind Our Mission
"Living with a stepfather who experiences partial hearing loss, I've seen up-close the daily challenges he faces, especially during important events like doctor's appointments or crucial phone calls. It's difficult to imagine the added struggle for those living with complete hearing loss. This personal connection sparked my passion to create Project EDI. Our aim is not just to enhance communication, but to ease the day-to-day stress and improve the overall mental well-being of those living with these barriers. It's our commitment to make a difference, to bring about change, and to foster a world where technology bridges gaps, enabling seamless communication for everyone."
"The journey began with a personal challenge - learning British Sign Language (BSL) through a computing project. But I soon realized the scarcity of accessible resources for BSL or sign languages. The landscape seemed defined by paywalls and lack of comprehensive coverage in technology. This pushed me to aim for a project that was not just educational, but could potentially be a solution for a wider audience. Project EDI emerged from this ambition. It's about creating an inclusive platform for all, using technology to bridge communication gaps, and championing diversity. Today, it's not just about implementing cutting-edge technology, it's about sparking a social movement towards a more inclusive society."
